Unit 10-Web-based learning

Web-based Learning Sources:
1. The first one I choose is IXL Learning. Math is my minor and this is a great site because it can be used by students from K-12.

Objective: Students will be able to work with the quadratic formula.
Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help students with math, which is a though subject but this program really makes it easy.
Lesson Activity: Students will use this tool to help them review for the test on the quadratic equation.
Assessment: Teacher will check for understanding by giving a test on the quadratic equation.
2. The second one I found was verbix. Spanish is my major and for students in the intermediate level this site is great. In this site they can get help on how to conjugate Spanish verbs.

Objective: Students will be able to conjugate any kind of verbs in Spanish.
Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help students with conjugations in Spanish because in spanish there are a lot of verbs that needs to be conjugated and some of them are hard and others not.
Lesson Activity: Students will use this tool to conjugate five verbs from the vocabulary in present, past and future tense. They are going to be in groups of four.Then they would make a presentation and they would teach them to their classmates.
Assessment: Teacher will check for understanding by giving a participation grade and grading the creativity of the presentation.

3. The third one is Rosetta Stone. This is a great site to learn and practice Spanish for students.

Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help students speak Spanish.
Lesson Activity: Students will use this tool to practice their Spanish every friday.

Unit 9- Distance Learning Tools
 
Distance Learning Online sources:

1. Mediasite is a great way to do distance education. I’m doing two of my Spanish classes with mediasite and it works perfectly. http://www.sonicfoundry.com/mediasite
Subject: Spanish
Grade: College

Objective: Students will be able to take a spanish class from their home.
Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help students needs. For example if the student has any difficulties because is a distance learner he/she can take the class through mediasite.
Lesson Activity: Students  will use this tool to take a distance class.
Assessment: Teacher will check for understanding by calling them and sending them emails to make sure they are watching the class.

 
2. Skype. Is also a great way to do distance education because you get to talk with the students. http://www.skype.com/en/
Subject: Spanish
Grade: College

Objective: Students will be able to communicate through skype in a mediasite class.
Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help the student have communication with the teacher and the class when distance education.
Lesson Activity: Students will use this tool to communicate with the students and teacher when having a presentation or during class.
Assessment: Teacher will check for understanding by giving a participation grade every class and if they do not answer then there is not participation grade for that day.


3. ITV. In my opinion the use of the ITV classes were very helpful. I got the chance to take one in Roswell and I really liked it. We could see the teacher and we had the opportunity to participate in class. http://orientation.distance.uh.edu/itv/

Objective: Students will be able to take a class through a television.
Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help distance education students.
Lesson Activity: Students will have to work in algebraic expression worksheets and before class ends one student should be in charge to fax those worksheets to the teacher.
Assessment: Students will be assess during class and the same student would have to fax those test before class ends.
 
 

Unit 8- Hypermedia/Multimedia Tools

1.Story place http://www.storyplace.orThis site is wonderful it offers stories for students in both languages in English and Spanish.

Grade: High School

Objective: Students will be able to listen to stories in Spanish.
Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help students improve their understanding on the spanish language.
Lesson Activity: Students will use this tool to work in pairs and listen to the story of their choice. Then they would have to make a little presentation about what they have read and they would need to make the end of the story.
Assessment: Teacher will check for understanding on the same presentation.



I love this site! Students can create films. I think that this is a fun and creative way of learning.

Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help students create presentations and videos in a fun and easy way.
Lesson Activity: Students will use this tool to create a video in pairs on different topics that are going to be giving in class (colors, shapes, days of the week, months of the year, etc.)
Assessment: Teacher will check for understanding by grading the complete presentation individually.

Objective: Students will be able to create a portfolio with all the material covered in Spanish class.
Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help students create a portfolio that can be helpful in the future.
Lesson Activity: Students will use this tool to create their portfolios and they have to be including every topic covered in class.
Assessment: At the end of the school year Teacher will check for understanding by grading content in the portfolios.

Unit 6- Presentation Tools
 
 
I know this is a Little bit older, but I love using PowerPoint for my presentations. PowerPoint is so easy to work with and it has a lot of great things to use for making a professional presentation.
Subject: Math
Grade: High School

Objective: Students will be able to create a power point presentation on different topics giving in the class.
Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help students create presentations.
Lesson Activity: Students will use this tool to create a power point presentation in different topics. They would present it to the class. Presentations should take only fifteen minutes.
Assessment: Teacher will check for understanding while looking at their presentations.



I’m sorry I’m using prezi, but before this class I did not know about prezi and now I’m trying to see if i can use it for a presentation in one of my Spanish classes. It is a great site and it can also make your presentations look very professional.

Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help students create presentations.
Lesson Activity: Students will use this tool to create a prezi presentation in the colors. They would choose ten colors and present them to the class. Presentations should take only fifteen minutes.
Assessment: Teacher will check for understanding while looking at their presentations.


 
Qarbon is a very nice site too. By using this site you can have a presentation done in not time, is a very fast program. Like I said with my other 2 sites, the important thing is that can help us make our presentation look professional.

Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help students create presentations.
Lesson Activity: Students will use this tool to create a presentation in the months of the year in Spanish. They would present them to the class. Presentations should take only 20 minutes. Students should come prepared to ask any question made by their classmates or the teacher.
Assessment: Teacher will check for understanding while looking at their presentations.
 
Unit 5- Data Base Tools:

This site will help us as teachers on how to use database tools in the classroom.
Subject: Algebra
Grade: High School

Objective: Students will be able to identify algebraic expressions.
Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help teachers with worksheets, graphs and help on lessons plans.
Lesson Activity: Students will be given a worksheet from this site as a pop quiz and they should be able to do it without any problem in the middle of the week.
Assessment: Teacher will check for understanding by giving the test for that week in a friday.

Subject: Spanish I

Objective: Students will be able to pronunciate the vowels in spanish.
Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help students with the pronunciation of the vowels in spanish.
Lesson Activity: Every day of the week and at the beginning of the class students are going to sit in a computer and use this site to help them with the pronunciation.
Assessment: Teacher will check for understanding  by doing an oral test on the vowels.

This site has great database templates to use in the classroom.
Subject: Math or Spanish

Objective: Students will be recognized for their hard work on either Math or Spanish.
Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help teachers with the classroom management database. Without any hard work or difficulty. Also it allows teachers to get certificates for students or any occasion.
Since I said that this was to recognized the students for their effort in both classes there is no lesson plan or assessment. It can be used when school year is over.
 
Unit 4- Spread Sheet Tools
1.How to Teach Teens Spanish on the Computer http://www.ehow.com/how_8596897_teach-teens-spanish-computer.html This site has great ideas to teach Spanish using spreadsheets (Excel).
Subject: Spanish
Grade: High School
Objective: Students will be able to work as a group in order to learn spanish language.
Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help the students and also the teacher to get tips on how to integrate technology in a Spanish class.
Lesson Activity: Student will use this tool to look for some verb conjugations that are going to be giving to them. Then they will write a short story using this verbs.
Assesment: Teacher will check for understanding by giving students a little quiz about conjugations.

This site has great ideas and a lot of help with how to use spreadsheets while teaching.

Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help the teacher provide material to the students to work on.
Lesson Activity: Students will work as a team in a worksheet. Then students will play a game in the same groups and work in the board on the problems without looking at the worksheet and the one who wins is going to get points for the test.
Assessment: Teacher will check for understanding by giving a test with the material covered during that week.

Objective: Students will be able to identify in Spanish: vocabulary, verbs, and nouns.

This is a very cool tool. I was exploring it and I just love it.
Objective: Students will be able to identify the numbers in Spanish.
Lesson activity: Students will use this tool to practice the pronunciation of the numbers in Spanish.

This site can be use with high school students who’s Spanish is advanced because it is a very challenged.
Objective: Students will be able to identify words, to fill in the blank with different verbs and also make plurals.
Lesson activity: Students will use this tool in pairs to play against their classmates and the group with more points wins.
